Grant Projects

The Columbia Gorge Fruit Growers (formerly known as the Hood River Grower-Shipper Association) received an EPA grant titled "Dee Flat Codling Moth Management Project." This project involves 800 acres owned and operated by 11 growers in the Dee Flat area of Hood River. The starting date for the grant was March 1, 2007 and the completion date is August 31, 2008. The objective of the grant is to significantly reduce the amount of organophosphates used for codling moth control through an intense monitoring and mating disruption program. This project will serve as a model for the remaining 14,000 acres of tree fruit orchards in the Hood River Valley.
